As a music genealogist, moments where new musical (sub)genres are born are pretty much the stuff of dreams.

Within this span of 84 seconds, from an offbeat library (ie music snippets) album "The Strange World of Bernard Fevre," foundations are laid for the deepest, darkest, most esoteric disco album ever made, Black Devil's"Disco Club" in 1978.

Released originally in 1978 on OUT. Recorded in France with a drummer and some tape-loops. No computers or stuff like that. Way ahead of it's time before House could be heard in DIsco and pre-dates early Cybotron etc etc. Totally amazing stuff.

Founder of NY-based revivalist label Minimal Wave talks about her work. Herself a diamond in the rough, Veronica's pirate radio station-turned-label has fittingly refocused attention on some spectacular, mostly unknown or forgotten artists. Beyond reissues, Veronica's bringing to light new talent with a penchant for stripped down, analog sounds, like Medio Mutante.

Veronica Vasicka is a photographer, musician, DJ and founder of the epic record label and on-line music resource Minimal Wave. As one of the founding members of East Village Radio, she managed the station during its pirate days and began collecting obscure and long forgotten gems that fell somewhere between the Cold Wave, Post Punk and Minimal Synth genres.
