Videodrome: Velodrome Intro

Yeah, yeah. I've been lazy about posting lately and not much music. But this tron'd out Velodrome intro scored by Chemical Brothers is seriously awesome.

Crystal has created a three minute animated sequence for the song’s promotional video to match its heart-pounding rhythms. Played in the Velodrome before every session the video shows the Velodrome as never before, literally pulsating with excitement. “We’ve created sweeping contours and sleek surfaces as the backdrop for an intense, futuristic cycling ‘duel’ as two animated riders power round the track,” said Darren Groucutt, creative director at Crystal. “It truly brings the Velodrome to life.” James O’Brien, LOCOG Head of Sports Presentation, said: ‘Inspiring people to engage with sport has always been central to our vision and we want to ensure the way we present sport adds to the experience of the spectators in the venues and builds the atmosphere. This will be a special summer and we are grateful to everyone who has given their time and expertise over the past years.’

Snort: 5th Avenue Frogger

NYC idea man Tyler DeAngelo recently created 5th Ave Frogger, which pulls real-time traffic data to drive the cars in this classic arcade game. Tip o' the hat to you, Mr. DeAngelo.

5th Ave Frogger is an attempt to imagine what the Frogger arcade game would be like if it was created today. This version of Frogger is similar to the original, except the traffic you dodge in 5th Ave Frogger is actually traveling down 5th Ave in New York City as you play.

Robot Rock du Jour: Hooray For Earth - True Loves (Cereal Spiller Remix) (2011)

While this song is uncomfortably close to mainstream for my circuit boards, this deconstructed remix by NYC incognitos Cereal Spiller is just off the beaten path enough to ensure safety. The real winner here, tho, is the animation created by UK-based (crazy) artist Cyriak Harris

Robot Rock du Jour: LCD Soundsystem - Someone Great (2007)

So, I pretty much avoid big time acts and there are very few "modern" bands that make what I deem to be exceptionally rad music. LCD Soundsystem, however, is the king + queen of them all. I created this stop-motion video as part of my graduate program thesis work. 100 hours of wood cutting and photographing. If you dig it, peep my process photos.

This stop motion animation film uses a very old technique called Strata Cut, but applied to wood. Each frame represents a 1/24" cut, 1,200 cuts in all. Created for Stanford's ARTSTUDIO 167 class taught by John Edmark. Scored to LCD Soundsystem's "Someone Great" as a thank you to the band for writing such wonderful music. Robot Rock du Jour: Disk Drive + Printer Singing

These folks take nerd music to a totally new level.

Visit http://georgewhiteside.net/projects/diskette-organ/ for more information! Test run of my (d)iskette (O)rgan doing Toccata & Fugue. People have made floppy drives sing before, but this is my personal take on it. Features two 3 1/2" drives and two 5 1/4" drives connected to a PIC18f14k50 microcontroller. It interfaces to any MIDI source via MIDI over USB.

Love this band, found them on Isan's myspace page. Great electronic production, lush vocals, totally danceable. Edited by Bohus Blahut @ Vantage Point (Chicago)
